I can see gridlines on some components of the prepress proof which weren’t there when I created my files.

The transfer of files from one computer programme to another is not always without its peculiarities. Incompatibilities can sometimes occur. Sometimes it is a case of a file not having been compressed; other times there might be problems with the colour profile. In 99% of cases, these lines never appear on the final printed version. But even if there is only a 1% chance, we are always 100% attentive and we will get back in touch with other solutions if this happens.

I don’t understand all the annotations on the prepress print you sent me.

Not all of this information will be directly relevant to you (the reference marks for our cutting machines, for example), but you might find some features useful for monitoring production, such as the total quantity (TQ), the dimensions of your components or the quantity indications on the printing plates (indicated by a red “by X”) etc. We therefore suggest that you check your prepress proofs very carefully, as this will be what we will finally print. If there is a mistake (because these can happen!) on the prepress proof and you give us confirmation without having noticed it, Azao Games cannot be held responsible.

On the prepress proof of the box, the image seems larger than the template. Is this normal?

If you notice this discrepancy, it is because we will have slightly enlarged the size of the box when making preparations in InDesign. This is a standard procedure which allows us to predict the tension of the vinyl when we produce the box. Without this, the edges stretch the material by a few millimetres and any discrepancy (or, in the case of your box, faces separated from each other for design reasons) can become much more visible.

On the preprint proof of the cards, the text direction on the back and the front is reversed. Why is this?

Simply because this is the only way that we can print double-sided. If you take a landscape sheet of A4, draw a dot on the left-hand side of the front then flip it over along the short side, the other side of the dot will be on the right-hand side of the page.
