FAQ

The colours on the physical prototype are different to those on my screen.

This is absolutely normal because a screen does not reflect colour in the same way as a printer. Modern printers use four process colours (cyan, magenta, yellow and key) while a screen adds shades of red, green and blue. This difference means that what you see on the screen will never be exactly the same as the colours on the physical product. Just as screens all have different colour calibrations, printing machines do not interpret colour profiles in exactly the same way. However, we obviously use our expertise to make sure there is the least possible difference between the screen and the physical product.

The front and the back of my product look out of line. Why is this?

No machine is perfect, and sometimes there may be a very minor offset between the front and the back. We always do everything in our power to avoid this, but we allow ourselves a margin of one to three millimetres maximum offset.

How can I make your work easier ?

Always be as clear and detailed as possible in your order instructions. The more you are, the less likely it will be that we’ll have to exchange a series of questions/answers over email. This will save us all time and make our collaboration more enjoyable. Also pay attention to how you name and organise your files for printing. As we weren’t there during the development phases of your game, we can only rely on what you send us. The way you’ve organised your files might make perfect sense to you as the designer, but it might just be confusing for us.

I sent you my files via WeTransfer but they haven’t been downloaded yet. What are you doing ?

Your order is simply being processed. Producing prototypes always takes some time, especially when many clients have trusted our expertise before you. Please be patient, and we’ll be with you as soon as possible.

I’m not a graphic designer and I only use Microsoft Word. If I send you A4 pages with all the images of my cards on them, can you use them ?

Absolutely! But bear in mind that there will be an additional charge for cutting your files and that this will increase the risk of a slight discrepancy in the finished product.

How do I make a PDF with multiple pages ?

If you’re using the Adobe Suite, Illustrator offers a system of artboards that allows you to create multi-page PDFs. On this programme, an artboard is equivalent to one page of a PDF. You just need to create as many artboards as you need and put your images on them. On other programmes (notably Inkscape), it is possible that you won’t have this option. But you can always search in your PDF reader (Acrobat, PDF-Xchange, Foxit…) because it will probably suggest how you can combine multiple PDFs into one.

What is the minimum order quantity ?

There is no minimum order quantity! If you want a game that contains 54 cards and nothing else, we’ll make it! Same with boxes, boards, etc.

How do I choose the size of my prototype components ?

Look at the components of games in your collection, measure the sizes that you like and adapt your game according to these preferences. The possibilities are endless, as long as we have the tools to make them (and we have the means to make many of your dreams come true). If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to ask us your questions directly by emailing info@azaogames.com. We will reply as soon as possible.

On the preprint proof of the cards, the text direction on the back and the front is reversed. Why is this?

Simply because this is the only way that we can print double-sided. If you take a landscape sheet of A4, draw a dot on the left-hand side of the front then flip it over along the short side, the other side of the dot will be on the right-hand side of the page.

On the prepress proof of the box, the image seems larger than the template. Is this normal?

If you notice this discrepancy, it is because we will have slightly enlarged the size of the box when making preparations in InDesign. This is a standard procedure which allows us to predict the tension of the vinyl when we produce the box. Without this, the edges stretch the material by a few millimetres and any discrepancy (or, in the case of your box, faces separated from each other for design reasons) can become much more visible.
